COOPERATION IN PROVIDING FRS CAN BENEFIT THE
FAMILIES OF OTHER MEN
Cooperation in providing FRS can benefit
the families of other men not accounted for. Not only would the provision of FRS possibly provide a
further degree of closure to the families of our men in that they would have
some assurance that the remains of their relatives were not being held in
Hawaii, but it would assist the identification process overall. If other
evidence were such as to narrow down the possibilities of remains belonging to
one of two missing individuals, then mtDNA
analysis could be a factor to distinguish between the two
individuals. Hence
provision of FRS could indirectly benefit other families in a similar situation.
This is an important point, since maybe
our families will have a common understanding and would wish to help other such
families.
